Debitum Investments Strengthens Board with Operations and Legal Leadership to Power Next Stage of Growth

Debitum Investments, the licensed investment brokerage firm, today announced strategic appointments to its Board of Directors, significantly strengthening its operational and legal governance. Chief Operations Officer Anatolijs Putna and new Chief Legal Officer Ilona Bauda have been appointed to the Board, a move approved by the Bank of Latvia that underscores the company’s commitment to robust corporate governance and its strong forward momentum.

The appointment of Anatolijs Putna recognizes his pivotal role in driving the company’s performance and innovation. Since joining Debitum, Mr. Putna has overseen a period of unprecedented growth, with the platform’s outstanding investments more than doubling from €12 million to over €27.4 million in 2024 alone, while total investments have surpassed €114 million by end of 2024.

This remarkable growth has been driven by Anatolijs’s leadership in upgrading current workflows and implementing fresh, value-adding features. Among his achievements are a streamlined onboarding process, enhanced corporate governance and risk controls, improved internal workflows, organizational restructuring, significant UX/UI enhancements, and the rollout of an upgraded Trust Score System to reinforce partner monitoring – all contributing to a more robust and scalable platform.

Under Mr.Putna’s operational leadership, we have expanded our investment offerings with the introduction of Latvian Forest Development Fund (LFDF) and Sandbox Funding (SF), both focused on asset-backed, long-term investments, and contributing significantly to the Latvian economy. “I’m honored to join the Board and contribute to Debitum Investments’ strategic direction,” says Anatolijs Putna. “I look forward to continuing to enhance our operational efficiency and deliver even better investment solutions.”

We are also pleased to confirm the appointment of Ilona Bauda, our new Chief Legal Officer and Board Member. Ilona will continue the essential work of strengthening our legal and governance frameworks and business expansion, taking over from Martins Galzons.

Martins has made invaluable contributions to our development, significantly improving Debitum Investment relationship with the regulator, strengthening our legal standing with partners, and elevating the company’s corporate governance to a new level. We would like to, one more time, thank Martins for his work, professionalism, and collegiality and wish him every success in this new phase of his career.

Ilona Bauda brings extensive experience in legal affairs within the financial technology sector, having previously served as Senior Legal Counsel at another leading European investment platform and working as Attorney at Law for many years. She holds an LL.M. in International and European Union Law from the Riga Graduate School of Law. Her appointment is key to advancing Debitum’s legal and compliance frameworks as well as business development as the company expands.

“As a lawyer with a deep understanding of business dynamics and the importance of aligning growth with compliance, I always strive to find the most effective ways to support sustainable business expansion while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. At Debitum, I am also committed to safeguarding the best interests of our investors. My focus on the Board will be to strategically strengthen Debitum Investments’ legal and compliance frameworks, ensuring robust regulatory compliance and unwavering investor protection as we continue to grow,” states Ilona Bauda.

Further strengthening its governance, the company announced that existing Board Member Ingus Salmins will now lead the company’s risk management framework. Ingus brings deep experience from the banking sector and from managerial roles at Altum Energo, a subsidiary of the state-owned development finance institution ALTUM, and holds an Executive MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. This move establishes, for the first time, a dedicated, board-level function singularly focused on risk oversight – a critical step in the company’s maturation and a powerful statement of its commitment to sustainable growth.

These leadership changes are a natural progression of Debitum Investments’ long-term strategy, reflecting our unwavering commitment to building a robust and experienced team dedicated to driving innovation and ensuring the continued success of our platform.
